LCF success at Golden Shears Tailoring Awards

LCF alumnus Ichiro Suzuki won second place at the Golden Shears Awards – the Oscars of the tailoring world. The biennial event seeks out the best in emerging tailoring talent, taking into account each designer’s technical skills and style.

Ichiro studied the tailoring diploma and then went on to study BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology Menswear at LCF, graduating in 2006. He is currently at the Royal College of Art and works part-time at Savile Row tailor Henry Poole.

The awards support young people learning the craft of hand tailoring menswear and womenswear. Ichiro’s stunning creations were all painstakingly hand-frayed and reveal a subtle tartan cloth underneath.

Tailoring courses at LCF include:

His area of focus is ‘Tailoring is a learned discipline as well as an Art’, and his latest work, ‘A Study on Anansi’, draws inspiration from two sources: Savile Row tailoring patterns and traditional African Anansi tales.
