30 lucky Year 9 students from five Hackney schools (Cardinal Pole RC, Hackney Free, Mossbourne Community Academy, Stoke Newington and Our Lady’s) attended a week-long summer school at LCF’s Mare Street site from 6 to 10 July. The course explored fashion design and business. The students worked in 6 teams and competed to come up with the best Olympic 2012 inspired fashion t-shirt and products. They took part in mini-lectures, got to grips with research, marketing and promotion and even made their own mini-t-shirts. On the final day they presented their ideas and designs to a panel of judges.
Young people from LCF’s Hackney schools and college partners took part in a styling session with music stylist Fintan Fitzgerald to celebrate the end of the 8 week after-school project Fashion and Music which took place at LCF’s Mare Street site Friday 27 March. The project ran alongside a BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear unit examining the links between fashion and music. Puma donated 2,000 t-shirts to the project which the students used to create their own designs.

As part of our thriving Outreach programme, LCF tutors travelled to Northumberland to deliver 4 days of fashion workshops to aspiring designers. Find out more.
