LCF partnered with Newham College of Further Education in the spring term to train students studying for their Diploma in Hair and Media Make-Up. Tutors from LCF’s Foundation Degree Hair and Make-Up for Fashion delivered 3 days of workshops on site at Newham College to teach the students specific skills and techniques for a catwalk show.

Students also spent a day at LCF checking out our facilities and meeting our staff and students to hear more about studying at LCF, and finding out about the application process.

At the end of the project the students got the opportunity to test out their new skills working at NewVIc’s catwalk show at Stratford Circus. The team of students applied the hair and make up on 80 models for an afternoon and evening catwalk show! Students created all the looks using high quality cosmetics provided by Inglot.

Kay Fackrell and her team of students from the Diploma in Hair and Make-Up Styling were invited to help out at Hair: An Event for the Uncurably Curious, held in November 2008. The event, run by the maverick team at Materials Library, was devoted to hair in all its strangest forms as well as to the artists, barbers, stylists and coiffeurs who make a living from it. The LCF team was on hand to advise on hair styling.

Following the backstage preparations, here are some shots of the BBC Blast Fashion Catwalk Show. LCF Hair and Make-Up Styling students managed the styling for the show at theRoyal Academy of Arts on September 17th.

Performers from Union Too present Poetic Decorum, a site-specific dance piece.

Students from the Diploma in Hair and Make-Up Styling course put the finishing touches to a recent dance performance at the National Portrait Gallery. The piece, entitled Poetic Decorum, had a Romantic Era theme and was staged in the Victorian Galleries to a cello accompaniment (cellist Ayanna Witter-Johnson is pictured above). The project was part of NPG’s Young People’s Programme.
